Qualification

Pouch Material Qualification for Oral Pouch Production

A useful material decision starts with your real production conditions — not a generic specification sheet. Define what the trial must prove, identify the exact sample, test it on your line and keep the result linked to the material revision.

What to send before a trial

Production line

Machine type/model, sealing method, current material and the converting issue or supplier-qualification question.

Pouch format

Finished dimensions, dry/moist fill context, required width and trial quantity if known.

Acceptance criteria

Sealing, feeding, leakage, wet integrity, mouthfeel, cleanliness, documentation or second-source qualification.

Identify the exact material under test

Record supplier model, basis weight, nominal width, roll/sample format and document revision before the trial. Procurement, production and quality should be discussing the same material identity.

  • Supplier model / sample label
  • Basis weight and nominal width
  • Nominal roll length or sample format
  • Controlled-document revision date
  • Relevant supporting report number / date

Six-step qualification workflow

DefineClarify application and the technical question to answer.
SelectChoose a starting 32 gsm, 34 gsm or comparison path.
SampleMatch sample identity to the correct document set.
TrialRun under normal equipment and process conditions.
ReviewRecord success, failure and the next material/process adjustment.
ScaleAlign specification, quality documents, width and supply.
Trial outcomes depend on equipment, pouch design, formulation and operating conditions. A supplier datasheet cannot replace customer-line qualification.

SpecifiedTestedQualification ItemDevelopment / Pending

Use the labels to separate manufacturer specifications, scope-specific reports, customer-line validation and information that still needs verification.

Request samples or discuss a trial

The form is designed around the same qualification workflow so the first response can be technical rather than generic.

Start a material qualification

A work email and a short note are enough to start. Technical details can come later.

No proprietary formulation is required for a first conversation.
