Why review material documentation early
Marketing words like “safe”, “premium”, or “food-grade” are not evidence. They should be supported by product-specific documents that your own teams can review against your market and product requirements. Reviewing early avoids surprises later in qualification.
What to request
A useful document checklist for an oral pouch material includes:
- the controlled TDS / qualification document applicable to the exact sample; do not assume 34 gsm numeric values automatically cover 32 gsm;
- MSDS for material safety information;
- a food-contact statement;
- SGS reports referencing FDA food-contact requirements;
- source and allergen statements, where your internal process requires them;
- the available REACH / SVHC supporting report, with its report date, tested sample/model and Candidate List scope checked against the product being reviewed.
For Musenn products, current released documentation includes MSDS, manufacturer-issued food-contact/source/allergen statements and scope-specific SGS reports. The controlled TDS revision is under method-reference review. The current MSDS states that no SVHC is present above 0.1% w/w based on the manufacturer document. The available third-party REACH / SVHC report is from 2024 and an earlier sample/model, so request current status for the exact option being qualified.
How to read compliance language
Compliance documentation is a tool that supports your internal review — it does not replace your own final conclusion for a given market or application. A supplier should not overstate regulatory coverage — for example, implying a material clears every market or application — without showing the documents behind the claim.
The more useful position is document-backed: the material is supported by specified reports and statements, and your procurement, quality, and regulatory teams review those documents against your own requirements. That is how a careful brand qualifies a supplier.
Match documentation to the selected option
Because Musenn products are available in 32 gsm and 34 gsm options, physical values should be checked against the controlled qualification documents applicable to the exact sample; current published numeric values are for 34 gsm. Specifications from different options should not be combined into one generic table — matching the documentation to the chosen option keeps your review clean.

How does Musenn handle FDA food-contact claims?

What about REACH / SVHC?
The current manufacturer-issued MSDS states that no SVHC is present above 0.1% w/w. The available SGS REACH / SVHC report is dated 2024 and covers an earlier sample/model, so its date, client entity, sample and Candidate List scope should be checked before relying on it for a current MSN-7B review.
